Red, red, red! Yes, yes, yes!
We saw it in the runways and the Golden Globes, so the classic makes its comeback in 2019 to stay! Are you afraid of using red in your everyday makeup? Well, you don’t have to. Keep reading to find out some tips and tricks to look gorgeous and make a statement without going too far with your makeup.
There are two ways to go, classic and bold. Let’s take a look at some fantastic examples that you can use to inspire your day makeup. These ideas are perfect for a day in the office, lunch with friends, or an evening laid-back coffee with your date.
Matte Red With Natural Eyes and Face
Take advantage of this trend to get ready in 5 minutes! Just apply a matte classic red to your lips and some moisturizer over your face. If you have dark undereye circles or imperfections on your skin, add concealer, foundation, some loose powder and a light coat of mascara to the process. Remember that a natural look requires that all the products match your skin tone.
Let your brows natural and don’t define the lip contour with a pencil, to get a fresher youth look.
Apply cream highlighter in a bronzer tone to get a healthy summer look.
Perfect Looks for the Office
After applying appropriate concealers, cover and even out your skin tone with a foundation for your skin type. For the eyes, use an eyeshadow in a marble shade under the eyebrow to illuminate, then apply a pale-pink or pale brown eyeshadow in the entire mobile eyelid, and finally blend in a mauve shade to your crease. Use a pink-pigmented blush powder and finish your look with classic red lips, previously defined with a red pencil.
Another fabulous look to go to the office is the pin-up style. I recommend a liquid or gel eyeliner for better definition, check my tutorial for a perfect cat-eye very soon. For the lips, defining outside the natural line will instantly plump your lips. Remember that thick lips are sensual and trendy.
Party Red Lips to Catch the Night Spotlight
Be the life and soul of the party with red velvet lips that you can combine with your nails and a pop of color in your clothes. Define the lips with a red pencil, apply a long-lasting cherry lipstick, and finish with a generous layer of gloss. A cat-eye or any black eyeliner technique for the eyes will match perfectly.
If you have the time to create a more elaborated look, go for a combination of a light eyeshadow in the inner lid and a wine shade for the outside area. The darker color will add depth and make your eyes look bigger and more open. If you feel daring, apply translucid glitter over the two tones of eyeshadow and don’t forget to make up your eyebrows to add a beautiful frame around your eyes. The lips will be the focus of this look, so go deep with the color, from dark red to burgundy.
Red Lips on the Red Carpet
In the Golden Globes, the overwhelming trend was a natural look for the face with striking, well-defined red lips. Oh, and don’t forget your fake lashes to look like you’re getting a Globe yourself!
Bold Blue for Bold Girls
If you want to make a statement, pick a shade of blue to create a contrast with your red lips. Combine with neutral tones in your clothes with a pop of red or blue. You can adapt this look with less intense colors by replacing, for example, the electric or cobalt blue with navy blue. Anyway, it’s a look for a casual get-together during the weekend or a night out.
Date to adapt these ideas and implement them into your looks. A final tip: be brave but practice first, never try a new look if you are in a hurry to leave. Embrace the red trends, and be bold and sexy.
